Dialect.

Since I've started doing Errant Apprentice exclusively I've noticed something. "Ah hate writin' in these here durned dialects!" I suppose I went a little overboard with it for Ernest and Dottie but I think I can get away with most people just droppin' the "G" that end some words and it will still sound sort of southern since they live in rural Mississippi.
Which brings me to something. Unlike some people, I actually like living in Mississippi. It's really a great state to travel in. One of my favorite hobbies is about once a year getting "lost" in the middle of no where and seeing what we can find.
For instance, this is Rodney, Mississippi. Actually, it's Brumfields Grocery in Rodney and it's delightfully run down and has so much character it practically speaks to me. The gas pump has warnings about how the chemicals are only for use in automobiles. You just don't find that these days. The whole place is actually a ghost town. There are three families living there according to the lady who told us about the place, but there's really no signs of life except for those houses. There are three abandoned churches, two of which are historical landmarks and the third is is such bad shape that part of the front roof is falling in. There's another store that we had to fight our way to through underbrush that had been devoured by the wood some time ago and a factory of some form. There's really only one abandoned house left standing.
Why do I do this? No idea really. I do know that traveling the back roads of my home state inspired me and I could feel the loneliness Terry would feel passing through these little towns and such trying to protect the people that live there. It gives me goose bumps sometimes.
Anyhoo, that's enough outta me for now. More later in the week. I may post some more pictures from Rodney if you guys would like. Later. -Kev
